Close your eyes and imagine yourself at the beginning of the 20th century. Imagine waking up in a room overlooking a vast park, taking a deep breath and thinking about the day that awaits you. A walk, spa treatments, an evening concert and a gathering with friends... Captivating music sounds in your ears and you step out into life. And when you open your eyes and imagine yourself in the present, your dreams can become reality.
The spa town of Trenčianske Teplice hides in its romantic corners a more than century-old villa, originally called Venézia I, today known as Baske Villa . A place where the tradition of the golden age of spa tourism still lives on.
We would like to thank Baska Villa for providing space for the photo shoot of our new Fall/Winter 2022 collection .
History
Villa Venézia was the summer residence of Count Oliver Seldern, his family and acquaintances. The legend of the Teplice affairs says that whoever has not experienced at least one party there does not know the smell of that time. In 2003, Slavomír Podmanický became its owner, who renovated it and renamed it Penzión Baske, after the highest peak above the Teplice river valley.
Today, the legend is coming back to life under the name Baske Villa thanks to Juraj Podmanický, frontman of the band Billy Barman and organizer of the Grape festival, and his partner Zuzana Prohácková. "We spent a large part of the pandemic in Teplice, where the villa became close to our hearts. Zuzka and I decided to start working in the hotel industry. We had little experience, so it was necessary to surround ourselves with knowledgeable people, which I hope we succeeded in. Since we are people who love to travel, we found inspiration on the road," says Juraj Podmanický about breathing life into the legendary villa.
Art
Baske Villa is now home to anyone who wants to actively relax and discover something new. As Juraj and Zuzana say, they cultivate modern bon vivant in Slovakia. "A return to spas, parties, art and relaxation in the heart of the spa park are things we try to keep from the past. The exterior of the villa copies the era in which the house was "born", on the contrary, the interior and layout are open to the new era and its technical conveniences," says Zuzana Prohácková about the reconstruction.
The modern and bright interior with minimalist furnishings leaves room for artworks to stand out, creating a unique atmosphere. "The interior of the villa is used as a gallery. All the works that guests see in public areas or in the rooms are for sale - paintings by Viktor Freš, Tero Abaffa, Juraj Holman, ceramics by Aneta Kurtová, or hand-blown lamps by Jakub Pollág with an installation by crafting plastics! studio. In the children's corner and in the library there are books and games from the Adka Books bookstore, which guests can read, but also buy. Baske Villa works as a concept store, so you can literally take it apart and take it home," smiles Zuzana.
Culture
Gastronomy
An integral part of indulgence is also high-quality gastronomy. At Baska Villa, the kitchen has gone through several development phases. Its final form is based on world cuisine created from purely local ingredients. Chef Martin Záhumenský, who prepares and sets the seasonal menu, has brought a new fresh trend to the villa. The villa organizes tasting dinners with guest chefs, most recently with Gabo Kocák, and other events focused on enjoying food. Familiar flavors will awaken memories of the past, but at the same time they will surprise you with their contemporary form.
