Richard Müller
It seems like it never stops. Albums, concerts, a constant whirlwind… Just when you feel like Richard Müller can't come up with anything new, out of nowhere he's here again. And twice this year. The finalization of the new album 55 along with the concurrent THE BEST TOUR is more reminiscent of the pace of life of the good old Rolling Stones in the seventies, not the peaceful life that many fifties enjoy. What keeps Richard Müller moving forward? What attracts Richard Müller to create?

We met at the Design Factory in Bratislava, a truly convenient space to "discuss" the new album, concerts, and life in general. Despite his life full of touring and recording, Richard Müller still seems relaxed and easygoing. This is not our first meeting, but we always have the honor of working together at PR events and photo shoots. Even though it is clear that he would much rather spend his time between the foam walls of a recording studio, he is very friendly and approachable. Naturally, the first question falls on the new album 55.

Richard Müller - Alain Delon

"First of all, I would like to say that my number plates came about somewhat by accident. The first was the plate "33" (the years of Christ), then the plate "01", in 2001, which was a kind of new beginning for me, and then "44". "55" literally asked. I would do the next one either "66", or then "69", I don't know yet (laughs). But this should be an anniversary plate. Very personal. I wrote the lyrics with my friend Peter Uličný, an excellent lyricist. I used to give him ideas, or choruses, and he would further edit and fine-tune the lyrics, and I feel that he did it better than I did. By the way, I just recently learned that the world-famous music composer Hans Zimmer also works in a similar way. He makes a theme, and then his team of people develops it."
When I was 25, 55 year old people were old to me (laughs). Well, and now it's here. I personally don't deal with my age. The fact that I don't act like a "ten year old" is probably natural, but mentally, thank God, I'm still fine.
55 is not only the title of an album, but also a milestone in every person's life. However, a quick glance at Richard Müller is enough to make it clear that he is not going to put slippers on his feet.

"I admit that I'm surprised by the number 55. When I was 25, 55-year-olds were old to me (laughs). Well, here it is. I personally don't deal with my age. The fact that I don't act like a "ten-year-old" is probably natural, but mentally, thank God, I'm still fine. In parallel with the release of this album, we will play the second half of the "THE BEST TOUR". Journalists often ask me if I need a break after the tour or the new album. I always answer that I don't. Concerts, traveling, and let's say the "rocker lifestyle" really fills and recharges me. I would have no problem touring my whole life, like Bob Dylan. He is on the "Never ending tour".
When I go on stage, I already know during the first or second song what the concert will be like. Whether I will enjoy it with the audience or whether I will have to expend a huge amount of energy to get them on my side.

The energy with which Richard Müller charges the room and the people around him is truly contagious. It's not often that you see someone talking about their work with such enthusiasm and passion. However, everything he does is not just about enthusiasm, but also about attention to detail and professionalism. Whatever he does, he has to be at full throttle, whether it's recording a record, taking photos, or playing concerts. "When I go on stage, I already know during the first or second song what the concert will be like. Whether I'm going to enjoy it with the audience, or I'm going to have to expend a huge amount of energy to get them on my side. When the spark is there right at the beginning, it's easier, but in any case, no matter what the audience is, they deserve to get a full concert, and that's what I always try my best to do."

When you look at a famous singer, you wonder how it is possible to create for so many years. How can you keep coming up with new things for such a long time? Where does his inspiration lie? "I have loved music all my life. I am one of the few who can say that my profession is my hobby, so I don't feel like I have to force myself into anything. I simply do things that I enjoy, and when it meets with a positive response from the audience, I can't ask for anything more. Explaining my inspiration, however, is a bit more difficult. I am not a person who lives a completely active lifestyle. I don't go to work every day, I don't follow politics, at least I try to, and I don't seek out parties and social events anymore."
I live a basically simple life, which means that themes and inspiration are harder to find. That's why I surround myself with a team of people who live active lives, inspire me, and help me create.
Even a moment spent in the company of Richard Müller gives one the opportunity to look unusually deeply into his personality. We are all the more proud that we have the honor of helping his great personality to stand out on stage during his tour THE BEST TOUR . The outfit that we designed for the release of the new album 55 will also be available to you soon. The special limited edition RICHARD MÜLLER EDITION is coming to Alain Delon stores soon.
