14 alpských priesmykov za 4 dni
Our office has been discussing plans for this year's summer vacation for a while now. Although spring has barely even begun, many of us can't wait to lie on a sunny beach and get that long-awaited tan. However, a few of us, as you may have already seen, like a different kind of vacation.
Last year we brought you a scenic report from the high mountain passes of France . Just like the opening of the original 1969 film The Italian Job, set on a beautiful Alpine road with Rossano Brazzi behind the wheel of a Lamborghini Miura with a Quincy Jones soundtrack in the background. Summer can't come soon enough and while many of us are still heading to the Alps to ski, the rest of us are praying in anticipation for a warm front to melt the snow on the highest Alpine hills, revealing endless twists and turns on some of the world's most beautiful roads.
What better way to pass the time before summer than by planning a vacation? With the help of Stefan Bogner, a German photographer, we can already fall asleep in Alpine passes thanks to his latest artistic creation.
A journey through the scenery of the Swiss, Italian and Austrian Alps, beautifully documented with photographs of the most beautiful roads in Europe. With the help of Porsche enthusiasts, Mr. Bogner takes you on a long weekend through fourteen Alpine passes behind the wheel of cars from Zuffenhausen. A task that is not as easy as it might initially seem. The book shows you an itinerary that documents in detail passes like the Stelvio or the Grossglockner, conquered by the best that Porsche has to offer, from the old 911 ST to the ultra-modern 918 Spyder.
Beautiful photographs are accompanied by information, maps and interesting facts to help you plan your trip exactly how you want, whether you're planning to conquer the Alpine Mille Milia in four days or you're in no rush.
Porsche Drive is a book that will take you from your living room chair to the wheel of a vintage Porsche to the top of an Alpine road. We guarantee you won't be able to put it down. Hats off to Mr. Bogner, who just gave us a reason to look forward to summer. Photo: Pavol Zachar www.zacharphoto.com
