It's great that people want to go to the gym these days. But lifting heavy weights in front of a mirror and running on a treadmill like a hamster may not be appealing to everyone. What other activities does the world offer if you want to stay in shape? We invited three masters of their discipline to inspire you.
Just an hour and your body will get a workout like never before. In addition, the pace you are forced to maintain in combination with the involvement of your arms and legs guarantees increased blood circulation throughout your body. Your heart will thank you for the high heart rate alternating with short rests, even if at that moment you think it will jump out of your chest. Boxing is a sport as old as the Olympic Games themselves. Give this workout a chance for young and old.
Go for a swim in the morning before work, your body and mind will thank you.
Thai boxing
Miroslav Tavel,
professional Thai boxing trainer.
Thai boxing is surprisingly gaining more popularity among the public than any other sporting activity. While for many the mere thought of such a sport conjures up images of tough, angry guys in the ring, others have isolated the anger and violence factors from the equation and transformed the essence of Thai boxing into the twenty-first century. Those who have thrown away their prejudices are now enjoying the countless benefits of the non-contact, 2.0 version of Thai boxing. It is a comprehensive workout for your arms, upper body, abs and legs. Jumping, squats, lunges, push-ups, all at a high pace guaranteeing rapid fat burning and muscle shaping. All effectively and intensely.
Ballroom dancing
Jaroslav Obona,
Member of the Slovak national dance team.
Fancy something a little more relaxed than boxing? Why not take a ballroom dance class with your partner? There are few activities that will improve your coordination skills better than dancing. Do you drive a car or multitask at work? Almost every activity requires coordination. Even if you don't aspire to be a professional dancer, coordination is one of the best tools you can use in life. Plus, until you try ballroom dancing , you won't realize how physically demanding it is. So, don't feel ashamed if you're a lousy dancer.
Give it a few hours and your confidence will grow faster than the pace of a tango. And at the end of the day, isn't it more fun to spend an hour a week dancing with your partner than on a stationary bike?
Swimming
John Jex,
representative of the Slovak Republic in swimming.
Swimming has long been one of the healthiest forms of exercise. Not only does swimming build your entire body evenly and improve your stamina, but it also helps your spine in particular. In addition, swimming gives you something unexpected, mysterious and unattainable for many – peace of mind. It is true that any physical activity, whether it is running or cycling, helps to flush out stress. However, when swimming, the buoyancy of water combined with divine peace will help to clear your thoughts like nothing else. After just a few lengths of the pool, the problems of the day that seemed so insurmountable suddenly become simple and manageable.
