Ventilation after wearing
After each wear, hang your coat on a sturdy, shaped hanger and let it air out.
This will avoid the accumulation of moisture and odor.
Proper hanging
Use a wider hanger that supports the shoulders. Avoid hanging on a hook or over the back, as this can cause the coat to deform and lose its shape.
Cleaning
Remove minor dirt with a soft textile brush. If stains appear, spot clean them. Never rub, just pat gently with a clean, damp cloth. For larger stains, leave them to the professionals and take the coat to a dry cleaner as soon as possible to prevent permanent damage.
Off-season storage
At the end of the season, clean your coat thoroughly, let it air out, and store it in a breathable bag. This will protect it from dust, moths, and mold. Avoid plastic bags, which don't allow air to circulate.
A coat deserves good care because it often represents you before you even say a word. With proper maintenance, it will retain its elegant appearance, functionality and shape, and will serve you reliably for many seasons.
