Wool is a natural material with exceptional properties. It is breathable, can regulate temperature, resists odors and at the same time looks elegant and timeless. That is why it is used to make pieces that should not be missing in a man's wardrobe - from pullovers and sweaters , through jackets to coats . With proper care, woolen clothing will last you years and retain its shape, appearance and functionality. Read our tips and minimize unnecessary expenses and frequent visits to stores.
Less washing, more ventilation
Wool has natural self-cleaning properties. It is often enough to let your clothes air out on a hanger after wearing. Avoid unnecessary washing, which can weaken the fibers.
Washing
If washing is necessary, select the "wool" or "hand wash" program with a water temperature of max. 30 °C . Use a mild detergent or a detergent designed for woolen clothing.
If a stain appears on wool, treat it immediately with a suitable product and let it air dry. This will save energy and material, as it is usually not necessary to wash the entire garment.
Drying
Do not use a dryer. Although dryers can dry woolen clothes, unless your product has a tumble drying symbol on the label, it should not be dried in a dryer. Dry woolen clothes flat on a towel to prevent them from warping.
If you still want to dry it in a dryer , the following applies:
– hang jackets on wide hangers,
– hang pullovers and sweaters under the sleeves,
– take coats exclusively to the dry cleaners.
Ironing
Gently iron the creased areas on the "wool" program using steam . Let the garment cool down for a while before wearing or putting it away to prevent it from creasing even more.
Pilling is not a defect
Wool may develop a slight pilling when worn. This is a natural phenomenon where shorter wool fibers come to the surface. You can easily remove the pilling with a fabric brush or a pilling remover . However, avoid using sticky rollers, which can further damage the fibers.
Storage
Hang woolen clothes on a wider, shaped hanger or fold them . For long-term storage, keep them in a breathable bag to prevent dust and mustiness.
Wool is a material that will reward you with longevity and timeless elegance if you take proper care of it. It is not difficult, just follow a few simple principles that will protect your favorite pieces and preserve their appearance for many years.
