The rise of casual wear associated with working from home might suggest that suits have been consigned to history. However, we think this apparent demise of the suit, shirt and tie combination is overstated. On the contrary, the suit is starting to evolve into a new way to creatively approach your everyday outfit.
The view of the suit as a tool of rebellion among Generation Z was sparked by the TikTok phenomenon #gentleminions, when saucy teenagers flooded movie theaters around the world last year. As a result, many multiplexes banned the wearing of suits. The absolute definition of conformity has suddenly become a symbol of disobedience. Who would have thought that the tool of youth rebellion would one day not be ripped jeans and a leather jacket, but a sleek blue suit.
Just as the Hells Angels jacket found its way into mainstream fashion, we can take something from the Gen Z joke. To look at a suit a little differently than we've been used to. That's why the suit outfits we're most excited about this year are breaking the traditional notion of it.
And if you dare, a black knit shirt like this looks absolutely perfect with a dark gray suit!
We would like to thank the Mirror Bar in Carlton for providing the space for the photo shoot.
The great thing about wearing a suit is that it's surprisingly versatile without having to think too much about it.
Shirtless
How about not wearing a shirt at all with your suit? In winter, just pull out a turtleneck from your wardrobe, in summer a solid-colored T-shirt, which will transform a boring suit into something really stylish. In terms of color, try to stay in the same shade as the suit, don't be afraid of a monochrome pair of black-black or blue-blue.
Speaking of a shirt, a proper one
Most of us have a strict separation of suits and casual shirts in our wardrobe. While we've always reached for simple white or pale blue for suits, today try switching things up completely.
Bold floral or leaf prints go hand in hand with the theme of a modern formal look in a casual way. Just like with turtlenecks, try to keep the colors in one tone. Otherwise, it could be a bit of a circus. Don't forget to button the top button too, so you can achieve the true hipster look.
Or how about something completely different?
In our collections you can find stretch shirts made of jersey cotton for several seasons in a row. This fantastic, wrinkle-free novelty has become a staple in many of our wardrobes over time. However, we almost always combine it only with leisure outfits. How about stepping out of your comfort zone and wearing it with a suit? It is the ideal mix of formal and comfortable, which together create the right mix of an unusual suit outfit.
So that we don't completely give up on the tie
Although it may seem like a tie is only for weddings these days, it doesn't have to be. Just use it to stand out, not to fit in. The 90s vibe that's currently in vogue gives you a unique opportunity to pull off the Wolf of Wall Street look. A blue suit, a striped shirt with a white collar, and a red tie - what could be more 90s-style?
