You've been dedicating more than half of your life to music. What does it mean to you?
Absolutely everything. If there was no music, there would be no life. Petr Lipa was asked what keeps him afloat and he replied "Music, music, music". I would answer the same way. Music is my whole life for me.
You have written and sung a lot of songs, various duets and collaborations. Is there any that you like to remember?
I really like the duet that I did with Mrs. Hegerová in the Rudolfinum studio in Prague. Because we didn't succeed at first and it looked like we wouldn't even make it. And then I suggested to her that we don't have to sing it, but try reciting the text. And that's how it came out perfectly. This song is also part of the Duety album, which was released last year.
So, are you planning to add something similar to your repertoire?
Certainly yes. We are currently working on an album for the band Banket, and the next one should be more chanson-like. It should be released in 2027, when I will be 66 years old, so I will call it 66. The music will be done by Ondřej Brzobohatý, just like on the previous two, and the lyrics by Peter Uličný. We have already finished some of the lyrics, they will be gradually set to music.
Can you tell us more about the upcoming album for the band Banket?
I decided to revive the band Banket after 40 years, the album will be called Slovenská strela. It will have 12 completely new songs, which we are slowly starting to record. It will be released sometime in October. A new collaborator, Remo Klačanský, participated with us on this album, whom we approached to do some songs and eventually set to music almost all the lyrics that I wrote for the album. The collaboration with him is amazing and I was very surprised that it turned out this way.
Along with the album, we are also planning a tour with former members of the band Banket in 2026, where we will play well-known songs from the album Bioelektrovízia plus songs from this new one.
You really have a lot of concerts every year, you have more than 80 planned for 2025 alone. Do you like concerts?
Contact with the audience is necessary. That overflow of energy from one side to the other is essential for both me and the audience. I like big festival, stadium concerts, where the audience sings along with me, but I also enjoy chamber concerts, which have an irresistible charm for me. I will give concerts as long as I can talk.

Which song from your repertoire do you consider to be a breakthrough in your career and why?
In any case, it was the song Rozeznávám by the author duo Hapka – Horáček. That is the song that was in a way a turning point in my career. It was the first serious chanson and so far the last of this type.
For the anniversary, you also prepared the album Duety, which features many well-known performers singing with you – the aforementioned Hana Hegerová, Sima Martausová, Janko Kuric, Katarína Knechtová, Milan Lasica, but also your daughter Ema Müller. How did you choose the songs for the album?
I was picking out the duets we had recorded over the years, and they spoke to me. With each one, I realized what beautiful songs they were.
