The same outfit, yet different. Do you have multiple events in one day, but little time to change? Try changing your tie.
A tie is your VIP ticket that will get you anywhere. Think of it as a small accessory that can do big things to your outfit. After all, it's the first thing people notice about you.
There's nothing easier than matching the right tie to your outfit, but many fashion consultants haven't wanted to tell you this until now.
Depends on the length
Whether you're 6'7" or 8'7", your tie should always end just above your belt buckle. If you tie it too high, you'll look like you're making fun of the office dress code, if you tie it too low, you'll look like it's sticking out, erm... Well, you know what...
But also in width
Narrower ties are in fashion today, but not super-narrow. The ideal width is around seven centimeters. If the tie is too wide, you look like a door-to-door salesman from the nineties, while too narrow is only worn by boys in boy bands these days.
Windsor, Half-winsdor, Elderedge… Oh, God
The only knot you will live with for the rest of your life is the simplest one - the four in a hand. Not too big, not too small, perfectly triangular. It is natural, elegant and goes with any shirt collar. Learn it and never forget it.
Combine until you're crazy
But follow one rule: two out of three .
Don’t be afraid of patterns, stripes, and checks. The key is to strike a balance between them. How? Remember that two of the three elements (suit, shirt, tie) can be patterned, but not all three. If you’re wearing a plaid shirt, feel free to add a striped tie. But keep the suit solid. If you’re wearing a plaid suit and a striped shirt, choose a solid tie. If you’re wearing a striped suit… you know the routine.
And if you're not sure what colors go together, stay in the same color group, just combine shades. For example, combine a purple shirt with a dark purple tie. Simple.
