Tomáš Sroka: „Podnikanie ma vždy lákalo.“

The Alain Delon Journal celebrates everything exceptional around us. However, nothing worthy of glory would exist without the hard-working hands of the people behind the unique things. Their personal story will thus become part of our Journal. The invitation to the meeting was first accepted by Ing. Tomáš Sroka, former CEO of Zľavomat.

A DESIRE THAT HAS GONE STRONG SINCE CHILDHOOD

The conversation is conducted in an informal spirit. A native of Topoľčany, he achieved at a young age what many only like to talk about. Already during his studies at the University of Economics, which he passed through "with his ears peeled", Tomáš saw the potential in creating websites and web applications in Slovakia. With his classmates, he founded the company WMS sro, which he managed since his first year of university.
I've always been attracted to having freedom in what and when I do, which is why I chose the path of entrepreneurship and running my own business.
In addition to the theoretical basis from school, he tried out in practice what entrepreneurship is all about. He discovered that in addition to hard work and enthusiasm, he would need perseverance and tenacity in situations where obstacles appeared. Bureaucracy or the global financial crisis did not discourage Tomáš in the beginning, but on the contrary motivated him to create other projects. One of them was the portal Zarohom.sk, for which he received the Young Innovative Entrepreneur award in 2010.

CHALLENGES IN SPORTS AND BUSINESS

Tomáš is a passionate athlete who loves challenges. He enjoys the feeling of freedom while riding fast on a groomed slope. In addition to skiing, he plays football, climbs rocks and recently ran his first half marathon in Barcelona. He sees sport as a great way to recharge his energy and also to strengthen himself mentally. He experienced great self-denial and internal struggles in the moments when he and two friends were approaching the summit of Mont Blanc.
The climb to Mont Blanc was amazing. Since I didn't have professional equipment, I had to improvise a lot. However, I still remember the euphoria of reaching the summit.

NEW PERSPECTIVE

After 11 years of entrepreneurship and building companies, Tomáš realized that with his maximum commitment, he did not have much time left to fulfill his own dreams. Therefore, in the fall of last year, he decided to leave his leadership position at Zlávomat with the intention of relaxing and devoting more time to his fiancée. Traveling around Europe brought him the desired relaxation and also a new perspective on life, business and the world around him.
People often ask me what I'm currently doing. Sometimes it leads to some pretty funny situations. While I was renovating my apartment, a business partner called me. I told him that I was no longer working with the company and gave him the contact information for whom he should contact. At the end of the phone call, he asked me what I was doing now and I told him that I was just plastering and painting. His reaction was that Mr. Sroka, I think you're capable of more!
Tomáš left us with the impression of a person who can get things going in the right direction. He exudes charisma and also a certain kind of humility that completes the art of his personality. From his stories and plans, we have the feeling that we will hear more about him. It was an honor for us that Tomáš became part of the Alain Delon journal.
